Belgrade Dance Festival showcases the most important dancers and dance companies from around the world. What keeps it vibrant and bold are the young dancing troupes and premieres that are an essential part of the festival. Fittingly, spring arrives to Belgrade along with this dance extravaganza.
The famous international event is held for the 15th time, and the edition for 2018 is named “The Capital”. Fifteen companies from around the world will present more than twenty choreographies. A festival of films “Days of dance in the Cinematheque” and interesting accompanying activities are organized within the festival.
Initially, the Festival won the Fund Award Jelena Šantić, and UNESCO declared it the leading new project in the culture of the region of Southeastern Europe (2006), followed by a reception at the World Dance Alliance (WDA ITI UNESCO). In 2011, the event was awarded the Star of Belgrade, Agency for European Integration. In 2012, the Berlin BalletTanz newspaper announced the Belgrade Games Festival as “the most representative manifestation of the old continent” and the “modern trendsetter”. The tenth edition was marked with the Decadance monograph published by the Official Gazette.
