Bakery Toma
Toma Miljković was born in 1935. Even as a boy, whenever he passed by a bakery with his mother, he would breathe in the wonderful smell of white bread, and it was then that he made the decision to become a baker one day. In September 1949 Toma started studying to become a baker, and thus began a tradition that’s been lasting for over 50 years now. The final completion of Toma’s boyhood dream came 19 years later, when Toma’s first bakery started to work at the address that’s Beogradska Street today.
History
The first one of Toma’s bakeries started working in September 1968 at the address that’s 14 Beogradska Street today – and thus the citizens of Belgrade got their first place for buying finest food of delicious taste. This bakery remains at the same spot even today. Apart from the bakery itself, the company’s head office is also located at this address, and this is where the managing of other Toma’s bakeries is handled.
The bakery network started spreading in 1988, when the next one of Toma’s bakeries was opened in Višnjička Banja suburb.
Shortly after that, Zemun also got its first Toma’s Bakery.
The network continued to develop in 1997, when another successful bakery started to work at Kolarčeva Street, and one can even say that this is the best bakery in all of Belgrade. It is most certainly the best known, for everyone’s heard of this bakery in the very heart of the city. Baking goods are available here 24/7, all 365 days of the years.
Toma’s Bakery also works on the premises of elementary schools “Radomir Putnik” and “Janko Veselinović”.
In 2002, a strategic cooperation was agreed upon between Toma’s Bakery and the famous Greek chain Veropoulos, which began to work in Serbia that year. With the opening of new Veropoulos stores, the citizens of Belgrade gained more locations on which they can buy Toma’s specialties.
Toma’s Bakery is a modern company and a well-known chain of bakery shops in Belgrade today. In 2013, Toma’s Bakery has shops in 10 locations, in which tens of thousands of people enjoy the taste of finest food every day.
