Choomich District
Čumićevo is a city in the center of Belgrade with a very exciting history. This is the first center of a small economy or a shopping center in the capital, opened in the 1930s. In the last decade of the last century, it turned into a bit of a spooky place, so the former windows of full goods from the West replaced empty outlets.
That Čumić was once again an interesting point on the map of Belgrade, Belgrade designers and artists had to gather, to unite their ideas and creative energy and to breathe life into the forgotten, outward and outer space.
So former Čumić became Belgrade Design District! Since November 1, 2010, this is where you can buy a wardrobe of affirmative and young Belgrade fashion designers, home decorations, artworks, jewelry. A specific atmosphere is made up of art galleries, interior studios and cafes. Our small district is constantly expanding, beautifying and changing and will not be small at all.
You can easily find us: when you walk through the center of the Republic Square, near the palace of Albania, along Makedonska ulica or to the Branko tunnel along Dečanska Street, look for the entrance to the Belgrade Design District. Pass the end of the Sport cafe or music school Mokranjac, across from the Dom omladine.
Once Belgrade’s first shopping mall and later abandoned, this revitalised complex is now home to more than 30 boutiques showcasing up-and-coming local fashionistas, jewellers, artists and designers. It’s a fabulous place to pick up original pieces that you won’t find anywhere else in the world. The mall is in the middle of the city but hidden behind buildings; follow the marked passage from Nušićeva by Terazije Sq.
